United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture

June 26 is United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. We take this opportunity to note the close working relationship between the Leadership, Management & Governance Project with the Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) in supporting organization development for NGOs working to provide psycho-social, medical and legal services to victims of torture and trauma. The NGOs are working in conflict or post-conflict countries such as Lebanon, Bosnia Herzegovina, Georgia, Sierra Leone and Sri Lanka. In many cases they are led by the founders who, along with their dedicated staff, are passionate in their work but have had little if any preparation in leading and sustaining a local Non-Government Organization. In partnership with CVT we provide learning programs and support in areas including financial management, human resources management, strategic planning and effective board engagement.

CVT is collecting tweets, Facebook messages, and emails in support of survivors of torture at their webpage. Learn more about the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.
