The East Africa Women’s Mentoring Network (EAWMN) was launched as a pilot in November 2014 in response to the gap of professional support for promoting women’s advancement in leadership and a lack of formally structured mentoring networks as assessed by the LMG Project during interviews and research for the publication An Open Mind and a Hard Back: Conversations with African Women Leaders.

EAWMN was a year-long virtual mentoring program that ran from January 2015 to January 2016 (with a six-month extension for those interested in continuing), which linked women leaders experienced in the health industry to younger women seeking knowledge, experience, and support as they enter and develop their careers.
