The World Health Organization estimates a vast majority of maternal and neonatal deaths are preventable, and that training the maternal health workforce on leadership, management, and governance skills can help improve services and reduce maternal and newborn mortality, especially in low- and middle-income countries.

This report details the results of the USAID-funded Leadership, Management, and Governance (LMG) Project's evaluation of the LMG for Midwifery Managers Certificate Course in June-July 2016.

The LMG for Midwifery Managers Certificate Course was first developed with LMG Project partner Amref Health Africa in 2014. In total, over two training cohorts, the LMG Project trained 20 local facilitators who went on to train an additional 99 midwife participants.
