Kristin Cooney

Director, West Africa Region, Health Programs Group

Kristin is a Country Portfolio Director in the Health Programs Group at Management Sciences for Health (MSH), and oversees a number of country programs on the Leadership, Management, and Governance (LMG) Project. She is an experienced project director and motivated team leader with almost 30 years of experience working for international NGOs as well as for USAID. With MSH, she leads, designs, implements, and monitors a variety of country programs in complex settings (such as Democratic Republic of Congo and Haiti). She previously worked with USAID in West Africa, Haiti, and Washington. She was the Project Director for IntraHealth/PRIME II in Rwanda and Director of the Breastfeeding and MCH Division at the Institute for Reproductive Health at Georgetown University. She worked with three projects at the Academy for Educational Development (now FHI360). Worldwide, she has led and managed a variety of reproductive health, maternal and child health, and other health programs, ensuring their success through capacity building, supportive supervision and expert guidance, quality assurance, results management, problem solving, and strong collaboration. With both field and U.S.-based home office experience, she has strong management, project development, and monitoring and evaluation expertise. Fluent in French, she is also a published writer in both technical journals and the lay press, and has excellent writing and communication skills.
