A Legacy of Leadership, Management, and Governance

Since September 2011, the USAID-funded Leadership, Management, and Governance (LMG) Project has strengthened health systems to deliver more responsive services to more people by developing inspired leaders, establishing sound management systems, and promoting effective governance practices to unlock the potential of individuals, networks, organizations, and governments.

During this time, we supported key global health priorities in family planning, sexual and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS, and maternal and child health by training local health professionals to improve health services and ensure equitable access to health for all.

We updated, adapted, and created 70 tools and resources that health workers and organizations can use to identify and address common challenges that limit their performance, because high-performing health services save more lives. Our experts presented 58 abstracts and papers at international conferences or in peer-reviewed journals that further evaluated the impact of our programs and examined the links between empowered health teams and resilient health systems.

Although the LMG Project ends this month, our resources and knowledge will be preserved in the resources section on LeaderNet.org and by thousands of health professionals around the world.
