Principal Advisor, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research

Monita Baba Djara is a Principal Advisor for monitoring, evaluation, and research (MER) with Management Sciences for Health's Performance, Learning, and Impact unit as well as lead for the Leadership, Management, and Governance Project’s MER team. Dr. Baba Djara has over 20 years of experience in health system strengthening, organizational development, and capacity building as a technical consultant, project/NGO executive director, and clinic and hospital administrator, working with various stakeholders in the global health and development arena including national governments, multi-lateral and bi-lateral organizations, faith-based and NGO institutions, and local development groups. She also has 7 years of experience as an academic with a focus on program coordination, curriculum development, teaching, and research. In addition, she is a mental health practitioner with experience both in the U.S. and abroad. Throughout her career, Dr. Baba Djara has used the participatory approach to health systems development, capacity building, and research to increase stakeholder involvement and ownership. She has effectively led teams in participatory evaluations of management and service delivery performance, program reviews, and performance measurement at all levels of the healthcare system. Dr. Baba Djara’s specific areas of interest are in health systems strengthening, leadership and management capacity building, and monitoring and evaluating for results-based management.
