Côte d’Ivoire is one of the 10 countries most affected by malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa, with nearly 3.5 million confirmed malaria cases in 2015, according to the World Health Organization. Malaria is also the number one cause of mortality among children in the country. Nearly half
(63,000) of the estimated 128,000 deaths in children under five each year is directly related to the disease.

With support from the President’s Malaria Initiative, the USAID-funded Leadership, Management, and Governance National Malaria Control Program Capacity Building (LMG/NMCP) Project, partnered with the Côte d’Ivoire NMCP to improve coordinated national efforts in the fight against malaria.

This fact sheet details some of the LMG/NMCP Project’s key accomplishments in Côte d’Ivoire.
